[2026-04-14] Action Required: AWS Resources with "insightwatch" in Their Names
Overview
Section titled “Overview”opswitch was previously offered as a feature of a service called “insightwatch” (insightwatch was discontinued in 2021). As a result, customers who linked their AWS accounts during the insightwatch era may have AWS resources with “insightwatch” in their names:
- CloudFormation stack name:
insightwatch-joborinsightwatch-job-x-x(where x represents version numbers) - IAM role name: IAM role created by the CloudFormation stack
These resources are used to run opswitch jobs. If you delete them because the name “insightwatch” suggests they are no longer needed, your opswitch jobs will fail.
To prevent this issue, we recommend updating your resource names to “opswitch” by following the steps below.
Who Is Affected
Section titled “Who Is Affected”This applies to customers who linked their AWS accounts during the insightwatch era and have not re-linked since.
How to Check
Section titled “How to Check”You can check whether “insightwatch” resources remain in your AWS environment:
- Log in to the AWS Management Console.
- Make sure you are in the Tokyo region (ap-northeast-1).
- Navigate to CloudFormation.
- Check whether any stack names contain “insightwatch” (e.g.,
insightwatch-job,insightwatch-job-x-x).
If you find such stacks, follow the steps below to update your resource names.
How to Update Resource Names
Section titled “How to Update Resource Names”By re-linking your AWS account, the CloudFormation stack name and IAM role name will be updated to include “opswitch” instead of “insightwatch”.
- Log in to opswitch.
- Click “Settings” - “AWS Account Settings” from the header menu.
- Click “Re-link” from the menu of the target AWS account linkage.
